Day 9

Well Lyle didn’t turn up last night and all of Lorna’s cosmetics were where she left them, Shame that would have been cool. So today we have a long journey to Lone Pine through the national park again but on a different route. We had breakfast in the hotel and packed our bags again and fuelled up the car for the journey to Lone Pine. The park was getting to us, as it was getting boring right up until the point when we stopped at the side of the road to see a wild bear looking for food, it was so good and unexpected. We were really surprised it came so close to the road, but sure enough it was there, looking straight at us. So after we left the bear we were on a new high and the rest of the journey out of the park, wasn’t so bad. The journey to Lone Pine was a tough one, as the temperature was creeping up each mile. The highest we saw was 117 deg, even with the AC on the heat was really tiring. We ended up some 5 hours later in Lone Pine and charming Motel called the Dow Villa Motel where plenty of western movie stars have stayed including John Wayne. After we checked in we cooled down and then decided to go to the Alabama Hills where most of the Western Films where made. Tonight we are going out locally for dinner and a few beers and hopefully we will meet up with some lively characters like last night.
